Inauguration of a Permanent Community Vaikunth Rath (Last Rites Van) Project

Inauguration of a Permanent Community Vaikunth Rath (Last Rites Van) Project

On April 25, 2026, the Lions Club of Juhu, in association with Loba Chemie Private Limited and the Municipal Council of Igatpuri, proudly inaugurated and donated a Vaikunth Rath (Last Rites Van) for the local community.

This initiative, generously supported by Loba Chemie, addresses a critical gap in essential services. The Vaikunth Rath will provide free-of-charge transportation of mortal remains from residences to cremation or burial grounds, covering a radius of approximately 20 square kilometers and serving a population of nearly 60,000 people.

Until now, families in Igatpuri had to rely on vehicles from nearby cities such as Nashik or Mumbai during times of bereavement often leading to delays and additional distress. With this facility now available locally, the region takes a meaningful step toward self-sufficiency, dignity, and timely support in moments that matter the most.

Lion Ketan Mehta, a dedicated member of the Lions fraternity, reflected on the significance of this initiative, sharing that this was a deeply felt and long-standing need within the Igatpuri region. He highlighted how, during moments of loss, families were often burdened with the additional challenge of arranging such a vehicle from distant cities like Nashik or Mumbai, an ordeal that compounded their grief. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Lions Club of Juhu for recognizing this critical gap and extended his gratitude to Loba Chemie for their prompt and generous support in bringing this project to life.

Leo Lion Rahul A Narula, FRC Chairperson further added, “Initiatives like these, driven by the stalwartship of the Lions Club of Juhu and the unwavering commitment of its profound members, truly create a meaningful impact across the entire sphere of service. It is through such thoughtful interventions that we bring to life our service ethos “Har Ghar Mein Lion, Jahan Zaroorat Wahan Hum”
